Using Through Slack and iMessage (Alpha)

When you are not at your computer, you can start sessions and reply to agents through Slack or the Messages app.

Connecting Slack

ocho slack connect

Open the link the command prints and sign in with your Slack account. If Ocho has not yet been installed in your workspace, select "Add to Slack". To confirm the connection status, run ocho slack status.

Working in Slack

To begin an Ocho session in Slack, send @Ocho a direct message, or mention @Ocho in a channel. Any replies in the thread of that message are sent to that agent.

You can also send the following commands:

MessageUse it to
!claude TASK, !codex TASKstart a session with that agent.
!new --machine studio --cwd ~/app TASKstart a session with ocho new’s options.
!machine studioset the machine for new sessions.
!sessionslist your sessions.
!attach SESSIONlink the thread to a running session.
!status, !detachcheck the session, or unlink the thread.
!stopstop the agent’s current turn.
!helplist every command.

Permission requests from the agent (for example, to run a command) are shown in the Slack thread. You can send photos and files in the thread, and files generated by the agent will also be sent here. Ocho in Slack supports most of Ocho's features, including secrets and session titles.

Connecting iMessage

ocho imessage connect --phone +14155552671

Enter the number that you use to send iMessages, including the country code. You will then see a verification code and a number. Use your phone to send the verification code as a text message to that number. After you receive the reply Paired, send !! to select a session, or send !new followed by the task to start a new session. The commands in Slack also apply here.

Working in iMessage

In the Messages app, each conversation is tied to one session at a time. If you send a message while the agent is working, its current turn will stop, and a new turn will begin with your message. The agent's replies are delivered as messages, and the files linked in them are sent as attachments. You can send photos, files and voice memos.
