Secrets

In Ocho, it's easy to securely provide aligned agents access to sensitive values without pasting them into the terminal.

Provide a Secret to the Agent

When the agent needs a secret, it can request one by printing a link in the terminal:

ocho://secret/STRIPE_KEY
Open this link, or run: ocho secret STRIPE_KEY

To provide the value to the agent, open the link, or run ocho secret STRIPE_KEY in any terminal. The agent receives the secret as a file on its machine. The secret will not appear in the conversation, the terminal or the command line.

In the demonstration above, the agent requests an API key, you enter the key in ocho secret without it being displayed, and then the agent saves it to .env without printing it.

Secret Expiry

A secret is valid for one hour by default. You can use --ttl to change its expiry to 15m, 8h or never:

ocho secret STRIPE_KEY --ttl 8h
