Using Ocho Attach

With Ocho Attach, you can "attach" a local Claude or Codex TUI to an instance running remotely. The agent's inference and tool calls run on the remote machine, while its interface runs locally on your computer.

In an ordinary remote terminal, every keystroke requires a round trip over the network, so on a slower connection, or when connecting to a machine that's physically distant, normal interactions feel delayed. Ocho Attach prevents this. Additionally, Ocho Attach is hardened against network disconnects so if your connection is interrupted (if you close your laptop, for example) the session reconnects automatically once the connection is restored. Sessions you start with ocho new open in Ocho Attach:

ocho new studio --provider claude --cwd ~/project

In this example, Claude Code runs on another Mac and fixes a failing test. Press Control-C twice to leave, and the agent will continue to run.

Codex is used in the same way:

ocho new studio --provider codex --cwd ~/project

The first time Claude Code and Codex open a folder, they ask whether you trust that folder. If you want to answer "yes" in advance, add --trust-folder.

To open a running session, run ocho attach studio SESSION.

Switching to the Terminal on the Agent's Machine

While Ocho Attach lets you control most of Claude Code remotely, sometimes you might want to use the remote TUI. You can easily switch between Ocho Attach and the remote TUI using Control-]. Press it again to switch back. While you switch, the agent and the conversation continue.

Leaving a Session

Press Control-C twice to leave, and the agent will continue to run. If the agent is working, the first press stops its current turn. If you want to end the session, type /exit. Either way, you will see the command to resume the session later:

Continue with Ocho, from any machine:
ocho resume 07ddaa9a

In the terminal on the agent's machine, pressing Control-C twice has the same effect: you leave the session, and the agent continues to run.

Supported Versions

Ocho Attach supports all supported Codex versions, as well as the Claude Code versions listed in Supported agents. If the Claude Code version installed on a machine is newer, the session will use the latest supported version instead.
